La Primera

This was my first ever bike. I built it for myself, and mostly learned to braze while building it.

It’s a gravel bike made of a mix of columbus tubing. The head tube is bilaminar (that means it’s double layered in the front). The outer layer has my f logo carved out. I carved this logo by hand with a set of needle files. It took about 3 hours. I don’t plan to make any more cutout head tubes.

I learned a lot on this build. And while the brazes aren’t perfect, I absolutely love it. The bike rides so well. It fits me perfectly. I rode it at the Mid-South 100 miler last year, and it’s still my go-to bike for any mixed surface adventure.

The headset and bottom bracket are Chris King. The drive train is Sram 1x 11 speed, with Gevenalle shifters. I built my own stem, but used an off-the-shelf fork from Whisky Components.

The paint was done by Eric at Colorworks Palette.
